HISTORY
Visit the Cathedral in Hólar,
the oldest stone church
in whole country, Icelandic Horse History Center,
or Nýibær, a fine example
of a 19th century North Iceland turf house.
NATURE
Hólar is surrounded by scenic mountains and stands
on the edge of Hólar Woods. There is plenty of long
and short hiking trails
for everyone to enjoy full range of Icelandic scenery: glacier, gorges, waterfalls...
LOCATION
Hólar is a small quiet village,
11 km from main road, just twenty five minute drive
to nearest towns:
Hofsós and Sauðárkrókur;
1,5 hour drive to Akureyri.

The perfect place for meetings and small conferences thanks to our co-work with Hólar University.
Annual Beer Festival is a great opportunity to taste greatest Icelandic craft beers and meet passionate brewers.
ACTIVITIES
A swimming pool and a hot tub are accessible in the main building of Hólar University.
Local Beer Center offers wide variety of beers which you can enjoy after a long day.
WINTER
Don't be afraid of harsh Icelandic winter, it can also be charming.
Rural setting allows to fully contemplate Northern Lights.
If you are keen on winter sport Hólar is a great spot for cross-country skiing.
